We've had a great weekend with Connie, Al and the kids. The time just flew by and it seems like they just got here and already it's time for them to leave. It's our weekend off and so we've been able to take off together whenever we want to. We stuck around Kandern for the most part. After they had to drive 8 hours to get here, no one really wanted to do any more driving. They arrived on thursday and we ended up meeting them at the school since Jacob and Mark were involved in a volleyball game. We ate at the dorm for some of our meals so they were able to get a glimpse at what dorm life is like during meal times.

Friday morning Connie and I did a bit of shopping. Trying to find some of the things they're not able to get in Prague. We had fun looking through some of the shops in Lorrach. We got back home and we went exploring through part of Kandern, looking at a few shops and walking through a little park area. Actually it's more like a bridge along a walking path. But it was still pretty.

Mark loved playing basketball with Clay and Eddie - 2 guys from our dorm. They made it pretty special for him as they taught him so new moves.

Friday evening we spent with Gary and Bearnice Hildebrand. Had a wonderful time visiting with them. Connie and Al became friends with them while living in Prague their first year (the first time moving there). Gary and Bearnice are now at BFA and we've had the joy of getting to know them too.

Saturday was a hiking day. We first went to an area near the school called the Wolfschlucht. It's an area that looks like the earth just opened up and left a canyon of sorts. There are big cliffs 50 feet high, rocks overgrown with moss and ivy spiraling up the trees. The forest grew up all around this and it's really like a little hidden spot in the middle of the forest. The kids had a great time climbing and sliding down the very steep hills that were covered with leaves.
