Spring Break part 7

On our way to Pisa...the LONG way. The trip was supposed to be an hour but ended up taking several hours through the side roads which only allowed us to go 50km/hr. But we ended up discovering this great beach which was almost completely abandoned because it was not the "season". We thought it was great. We pulled out the picnic lunch and enjoyed our time in the sun.

We really enjoyed the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The area was much bigger than we had imagined with other buildings and large areas of lawn set around the tower.

After returning from our day trip to Pisa we stopped once again in Portovenere for supper. It was beautiful as the sun was setting.

Our supper was rather an adventure...not for the faint of stomach! Connor ordered a pasta that was filled with mussels and other shelled fish. Once you got past the slimy, mucousy look of the things it really wasn't all that bad. He couldn't stand the mussels though. Jake, Mark and I all ordered what we thought were going to be large jumbo shrimp in pasta. Turns out they were the full little shrimps - eyes and antenaes all still attached. They were split in half and tossed in with the pasta - shells and all. Jakes face says it all!
