The Christmas banquet took place on Saturday. It was a sold out evening. This is one of the biggest highlights of the year. This also happens to be one of the only "date" nights allowed. As a result, it becomes quite the affair. Some of the girls dorms spend the day doing a "spa day" just to get ready for it. Everyone is in formal wear...the guys in suits and ties, the girls in formal gowns. I've never seen our guys look so good! All the guys who have dates arrive at the school about a half hour early so they are ready to recieve their dates and give them their flowers. They stand outside in the cold waiting for the arrival of the girl dorm vans. They were served hot apple cider while they waited. Most of the grade 8's are servers for the evening. The evening is catered and all is by candlelight. There is a program that follows the dinner. It was such a beautiful night.
