Today is another beautiful day...hot and sunny. It was supposed to rain but thankfully it's turned out to be nice again. All the kids went to a swimming day in some other town today. The RA's have taken the dorm kids as an activity to do while we're in classes. OUr German class went on another "field trip" to the local outdoor cafe today to learn how to order drinks/food. I had a cappucino and mark had some icecream. Very good. We're trying to practice our German as we order. Making lots of mistakes. :) This afternoon will be learning about relationships and computers. The way our computer stuff has gone, this should be an interesting class! Yesterday for lunch we went to the famous "Kabob" place. They have a huge hunk of meat roasting on a spit tht they slice off pieces and put into these amazing pita type breads. They were so big that none of us could finish them except Jake. THe meat was a little bit greasy for my liking, but they were quite good. The kids LOVED them and thought it was so much better than Subway. We had fun trying to order the food from a menu we couldn't understand. We'll learn. Then in the afternoon the younger boys went to 2 different friends places and the rest of us did some shopping in a town close to here. We are still looking for things for the apartment. We picked up some paint for Tiera's room and a hutch for the boys room. The dresser that is currently in their room is falling apart and having trouble opening properly. (Just a note for those of you not sure where we are actually living...we have an apartment within the dorm. It's got 4 bedrooms and the largest of all the dorm apartments. Caleb and Connor share a room and it is more like a glorified hallway room since it is a go-between to get to Tiera and jake's rooms. Not the ideal situation, but it's working. We have 1 bathroom with 1 toilet, 1 tub and shower as part of it. Then there are 2 shower/sink rooms in Tiera and Jake's rooms and a sink in the younger boys rooms. Doesn't make sense to us since we'd rather have another toilet in the house! ) We are still looking for a van. There was a huge hailstorm here a week and a half ago and so we're hoping that we might be able to get a van cheaper because of this. There was so much damage to most vehicles. The roofs look dimpled like a golf ball. Prices on these vehicles should come out later this week. But so far we haven't found a van in the surrounding area. one of the dealerships is keeping a lookout for us, so we'll keep looking. For now we are using the dorm van which is fine since we have to practice driving it. Connor is having a bit of a harder time still. He is reminiscing about EVERYTHING from home...including his sunday school teacher! He phoned home to a friend last night and he was pretty excited. Please continue to pray for his (and the other kids) adjustment to life in a new place. Tiera loves everything about here. Caleb seem to too. Well, thankyou SO much for those that have written. We are so excited when we open our mailbox and find a letter waiting from you....feels like our lifeline.
